This is a good read to introduce us to the 'gang' and to the, I'm pretty sure, evolving story of Cynthia and Raphael. What I did NOT like about her was her height and that's a personal dislike-I like shorter women (primarily because I'm only 5'3" and I like to think of myself as capable and strong in a small package). I liked the female protagonist as well (Cynthia) as she is a strong.

But, I really liked this first book once I made myself understand that Raphael was NOT a Brother but a cool dude in his own right. Review 2: Being a diehard Black Dagger Brotherhood fan (both the brothers and the author), I was skeptical about this series. Thank goodness I already have the second book or I would not be a happy camper. I was not fond of the way this book ended with a cliffhanger. However, the world building and the plot was interesting enough to keep reading. In no point in this book was I persuaded that they were in love. I didn't really enjoy the characters in the beginning, and I didn't really know why Cyn and Raphael ended up loving each other.
